March is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, but for me, Dion Peak, cerebral palsy is part of my everyday life—not just something to recognize once a year. Living with cerebral palsy comes with unique challenges, from balance difficulties to mobility struggles, which vary from person to person.

For me, the biggest challenge hasn’t just been the physical aspects—it’s been the mental hurdles. I’ve often worried about how people perceive me, how they stare because of the way I walk. But over time, I’ve learned an important truth: Just because I have to do things differently doesn’t mean I can’t get them done. And if there’s something I want to experience in life, I go for it.

Cerebral palsy affects over 17 million people worldwide. To parents of young CP warriors, my biggest encouragement is this: Do not limit them. Let them explore, experience, and discover what they are capable of. Teach them that they are different for a reason—and that if we were all the same, the world would be a much duller place.

Fun fact: The color that represents cerebral palsy awareness is green! But beyond colors and recognition, the most powerful way to spread awareness is to live boldly. CP stops absolutely nothing unless we allow it to. That’s why I proudly call myself a cerebral palsy warrior—someone who has learned to adapt, to embrace my uniqueness, and to love myself fully.

This journey led me to become a fitness trainer—not just because I love fitness, but because I didn’t see people like me in the fitness industry. I wanted other CP warriors to see representation, to know that they, too, can be strong, active, and empowered. We may have to do things differently, but we are limitless.
